Steve Dickson was born in Forfar, Angus, Scotland to Muriel Dickson and David Dickson (who was a headteacher and later a lecturer at Charlotte Mason teachers training College in Ambleside, lake district, England).
Steve came to England when he was 2 years old and lived in Barrow on Soar, then in Leicester. He grew up (from aged 10yrs - aged 18yrs) in Holmfield Avenue West, Leicester Forest East, Leicester. Steve was educated (ha ha) at the Dixie Grammar school, Market Bosworth, Leicestershire and then on to Charles Keene College Leicester. Steve then went to Grimsby College for 1 year before returning to the Leicester area and starting work. There were many sales type jobs including selling TV magnifying lenses at Alex Owen Electrical retail in Leicester and Oadby, before Steve Dickson finally settled into a job in the Civil Service. Steve worked for the Employment Department as a civil servant for 21 years and then to Broxtowe College, Beeston, Nottingham. He achieved Higher Executive status and was the European Projects manager at Broxtowe College where he stayed until 1997. Steve lived in Nottingham for 17 years with his wife Shirley and two daughters Tanya and Natasha. Steve and Shirley were road and cross country runners for 17 years and belonged to the Kimberley & District Striders (KADS) running club, Kimberley, Nottingham representing the club in races in10K, 10mile, half and full marathon races.
With their daughters now married, Steve and Shirley Dickson moved in 1999 to Eastview, Kirton End, Boston, Lincolnshire, UK where they had 2 acres of land which they converted into a wildlife sanctuary. Steve and Shirley took up playing golf at the Kirton Holme golf club, Kirton Holme, Boston, Lincs.
In 2002 daughter Natasha and her husband Darren emigrated to Queensland. Steve and Shirley have been travelling back and forth since 2003 and finally gained permanent residency in April 2007. They are both now currently live in Tin Can Bay, Queensland, Australia - golfing and doing other non-strenuous activities. Steve and Shirley's other daughter Tanya and husband Sandy live in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK with their two sons James and Kyle making Steve and Shirley proud grandparents.
Steve Dickson has been self employed in web design and web marketing for 6 years and can be contacted at any time for a natter. He is still active in this field and has recently helped launch the new Tin Can Bay Country Club website.
