Born in Wales, Meinir
has enjoyed a varied career. She
spent 5 years singing in the world renowned a cappella group, 'The Swingle
Singers'. During that time she performed
at many of the world's greatest opera houses, concert halls, theatres and jazz
clubs.
Her work with 'The
Swingle Singers' encompassed a
cappella shows at international jazz, classical and early music
festivals; intimate gigs at
Ronnie
Scotts Jazz Club; orchestral 'pops' concerts;
contemporary opera; educational workshops and collaborations with other
international artists. Meinir recorded 3
cds and a cd single with
the group. She also wrote arrangements for
the group and choreographed their a cappella shows.
Meinir has
worked as a freelance singer in London,
singing in ‘Saturday Night Fever’ at the London Palladium, working as a
session singer and also as a singing teacher at Stagecoach Theatre
Arts. She has appeared in touring shows in the UK
and South Africa and
spent a year and a half
performing in musical theatre, pop and jazz productions on board cruise
liners.
She is part of the duo ‘Harp Divas’ with harpist
Karen Hickmott. Since arriving in Sydney she has
performed as guest
soloist
with the Sydneian Bach Choir, Sydney Welsh Choir and Cantorion Sydney
Male Voice Choir. She has also sung with
Cantillation, The Australian Brandenburg Choir and The Ten Sopranos.
Her
repertoire spans musical theatre, jazz, contemporary music and
classical music.
