HISTORY: Dalrymple Drifters
In mid 2005 a number of motor homers, the majority of whom were
Chapter Members from the Island Wanderers Chapter, discussed the
matter of establishing another Chapter predominately based
around the Tamar Valley area in mid Northern Tasmania.
The Island Wanderers is a rather large Chapter
and has a State wide area and as such rally from North to South
& West to East within the State. With the blessing and support
of the Island Wanderers they proceeded and enlisted a number of
other motor homers all whom had not been involved in Chapter
previously.
Our inaugural meeting was held at Sidmouth on
the West Tamar on the 6th January 2006 and the Dalrymple
Drifters came to life. At our meeting some 19 rigs has
signed on and Island wanderers President Ian Barbour kindly
chaired the elections. Island Wanderers also provided us
with a $200 cheque to start our finances moving. We were
most grateful for this. Since that time we have had new members
join and some leave, a normal attribute within any Chapter.
We became the 77th Chapter of the CMCA and
received our Chapter Banner at the Mt Gambier Anniversary Rally
in March 2006. Our motto "Where East meets West" relates
to the joining of Northern Tasmania via the Batman Brigade which
spans the Tamar River. Should you wish to participate in
any of our functions we would be pleased to see you.
