Shortcut Names

When creating a shortcut to your desktop or in fact anywhere, Windows will choose a name for you. However, you don't have to keep it. If the shortcut name created is "MSF1", this is not very helpful. However, changing the name to "MS FrontPage 2000" may be more useful. Your shortcut names should always be meaningful so you do have to think twice what it will open. It's your desktop!

Spell checking

To spell check a whole document you can either:

• Use your mouse and click the "Tools" menu button and select "Spelling & Grammar". or

• If you want to check the spelling of just one word, double click that word with your mouse and use your mouse to click the "Tools" menu button and then select "Spelling & Grammar".

A quicker method to spell check a whole document is:

• While you are working on your word document press F7, this opens your "Spelling & Grammar" checker.

• The same applies to spell check just one word, double click that word and press F7.

Do you know what a Thesaurus is?

If not a Thesaurus will suggest an alternative word to use. A quick way to use your Thesaurus is to double click the word that you want an alternative word for and press the shift key then F7. This opens the Thesaurus  dialog box. This is a great tool.

Tip - If you press shift and F7 at the same time it will spell check the word therefore make sure you press shift first and then F7.
