Who are they suited for ?

A Wire is an affectionate family pet, good with children, that is suited to an active, easy going family

Nature

High-spirited, playful, silly, easy to teach, and very fond of children. It is also robust, plucky and an excellent guard. Its curiosity leads it to take part in anything that goes on around it. Being a terrier, they will chase rats and mice but also anything that invades their territory such as lizards.

Exercise

Even though a small dog, a Wire needs a lot of room and access to a fenced yard. They need lots of activity and at least one daily walk that should include some play. If left on their own, they should be in a secure area where they can move around and play with a variety of "toys" such as Kongs to keep them entertained. Having another companion is such circumstances is always the preferred option.

Grooming

Regular brushing and a bath as required. Hair grows in the ears and must be regularly removed. If the coat is clipped on a regular basis they will not shed hair.

Feeding

One cup per day of good quality dry food and plenty of fresh water. They also enjoy a piece of breast of mutton or raw chicken wings or necks to chew on.

Life Span

12 - 14 years

Obedience Training is recommended !
