The installation is reminiscent of the ancient Egyptian or Greek temples, with their imposing architecture and sculpture. It connects the modern cultural temple (the art gallery) to the days when the old gods were giants, but accessible, fallible and very, very human. The two to three times life size figures tower over the viewer and the sensuous, sculptural drawing superimposed on the essentially insubstantial support highlights the earthiness and physicality of the subjects. Photos of the opening have been included to give you some sense of the scale which is so important to the reading of the works. Bear this in mind as you wander about the gallery (or keep you nose very close to the computer screen while viewing). We welcome any comments or queries you have.
