... London. She said that she was doing her Xmas shopping and getting her mail away also. I wrote to her yesterday and gave her all the news so I guess I shall hear from her again.
Things are going along finely up here Doe and we are quite settled down in every respect. My section, plus our officer, was lucky enough to have a house to itself so everything is tip top. There are fifteen of us all told and we have tone of room and we are having a grand time. I am in a room with Doug Cook and Keith Bailey and things are extremely comfy with us. You see Doe we were not quite satisfied with the army beds which still consist of the inevitable straw palliasse, so last Saturday we borrowed a lorry and paid a visit to the local furniture dealer. The result was, we arrived back with three iron beds plus mattresses for each and promptly set them up in our room. We have them on the hire system and after the second week the cost per week is only sixpence, so how's that for a little extra comfort Doe? We also have a wireless installed in the recreation room plus a grand fire day and night so after all 'tis not such a bad life in the army. What say you pet?

Rumour hath it that there are 104 hotels here so that should suit our lads down to the ground. There are five picture theatres and that is where I spend most of my evenings, i.e. when I go out, otherwise I sit by the fireside for an hour or two each night then off to bed.
So now you know where we are pet but don't forget - "even the walls have ears" so don't use the name of this village in the address or the "powers that be" at the orderly room might start asking a few stupid questions. After all, 'tis really a farce Doe, in one sense but the "heads" have a habit of sticking to orders now and again. But if you find time to dash up this way for a weekend (i.e. if your case finishes) you will know where to come. The address is the same as at the top of note my pet and that will find me just as quickly - Australian Forces, England.
I have ordered some very nice Xmas cards Doe and I am anxiously awaiting their arrival so that I may get them away. I will send you one so you can see what they are like. They will have the Rising Sun attached with my name and ......
