Season 2010-2011: Back into it, lads!
Three Rounds Down
The rain has played havok with the start of the season, but that's par for the course here in Armidale. After a washout in round 1, both sides suffered outright defeats in round 2. First grade went down to Ex-Services after winning on first innings on the first day. Ex-Services were bowled out for 36, who then proceeded to roll City for 55. Ex-Services then made 194 in their second dig, leaving a 179 run chase. City fell just short, bowled out for 169.
Seconds made 134 against Centrals, who passed their score with a total of 155. City struggled in their second innings, being rolled for 64, leaving Centrals a relatively easy chase that they made for the loss of 4 wickets.
Round three saw first grade up against Hillgrove. Sent in on a dampish Lambert track, City made 239, with five batsmen making 30 or more runs. At stumps Hillgrove were 2-50, and looking like making a good chase. That was until the next week when Will Gell tore through their lineup, finishing with 5-31, including three wickets in one over. Hillgrove were bowled out for 71, and were about to be sent back in when the heavens opened.
Second grade were also washed out. Here's hoping for some better weather in the weeks to come.
The ADCA competition this year will consist of three grades. The points table will be updated as the season progresses.
