Meet: Wednesday 7:30–9:30pm
Background
Crowajingalong
Venturer Unit started in early 1988 and quickly built to become one of the largest
Venturer Units in Canberra. It still is. We've always had a balanced mix of
males and females. The Unit has always sought to have a very wide range of activities,
including camping
and
hiking, abseiling and caving, snow camping and so on. Our activities have taken
us far and wide, with regular annual week long summer camps in Victoria's Croajingolong
National Park and at Pambula on the NSW south coast, caving in the Central West
of NSW, scavenger hunts in Sydney, and abseiling in the Blue Mountains being
just some of what we've done so far. Closer to home, our Wednesday programs
involve lots of out of hall activities. We like lots of variety and don't like
being bored and we're always keen to try new things. We meet every week in the
year except for two weeks over Christmas/New Year.
Dragon Skin each Easter is always one of our highlights every year and our teams have always performed well and brought credit to the Unit, competing against teams from right across NSW and the ACT. Our leaders also have usually done well there, frequently bringing home "Best Activity" awards.
Our
Venturer den is easily the most comfortable of any in Canberra and we're pretty
well off for equipment. We manage our own budget and fund raise for larger,
more expensive trips or equipment. By the middle of 2003, we had produced 16
Queen's Scouts but that's only a small fraction of the number of great Venturers
who have been Crows' Venturers. There is always room for more adventurous, fun-loving
people interested in being part of a great team. If you would like to come along
and see what we are all about, please contact us below. ![]()
