Identity And The Re-constructed Self

Identity And The Re-constructed Self:
The aim of this assignment was produce three images at A3 size which reflected various aspects of your identity, by depicting the self in a fictional situation or re-creating your identity. Everyone has at some stage tried to imagine what it would be like to be professional and famous, possessing all of the talent and skill that is required to be "one of the best in the world". As the basis for my work, I decided to create three images which represented a few of the dreams and aspirations of youth culture - a professional surfer, a pro skater, and a recording artist.

About The Process:

After deciding on the theme of the work, the next part of the process was to find the images which could be used in the compositions. I searched through old prints and also took a couple of digital photo self portraits to provide the basic imagery for each piece. All the prints needed to be re-touched to remove scratches and blemishes, and their tones and colours needed to be adjusted. The image below is one of the three digital montages submitted for the assignment.
