acic08 will once again be held in the idyllic location of Lake Ainsworth Sports & Recreation Centre in Lennox Head (Northern NSW), nestled metres from Seven Mile Beach, beside the tea-tree freshwater lake. Dance on the sprung timber floor of the stadium hall, amongst the trees, on the beach, or in the water! You can see some of these locations in our acic07 album.

Participants can stay onsite at Lake Ainsworth, making your Convergence experience a residential retreat! The residential rate (see above) includes comfortable dormitory-style sleeping for Thurs – Sunday nights (check out by 5pm Monday), and continental breakfast. There is the option to camp onsite, however you will still need to pay the full residential rate.

Lake Ainsworth is at the northern end of the township of Lennox Head. Nineteen kilometres from Byron Bay (nearest train station) and nine hours drive north of Sydney.

flying
The nearest airport is Ballina, 15 minutes from Lake Ainsworth.
Flights go into Ballina directly from Melbourne and Sydney. Check Virginblue, Jetstar, Qantas and Regional Express (REX) www.rex.com.au (from Sydney only).
Alternate airports:
Gold Coast (Coolangatta) – approx 1.5 to 2 hours driving
Lismore (REX airlines only) – approx 40 minute driving, however pos. a bit harder to get to the coast from here.
Brisbane – approx 2.5 to 3.5 hours driving.

this is the local bus company and for $5.60 you can take the scenic route thru downtown Ballina and get a feel for the community!!!!!! A short stroll (20 minutes) along some of the North Coast’s most alluring beach faces you at Lennox Head – splurge and take the minibus! 7 buses a day. Check the web for timetables.

This company J and B Coaches run out of the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre (taxi ride from airport and where the big commercial bus companies operate from) but say they will do Gold Coast Airport pick ups upon request. Visit website for details they have buses leaving for Byron at 8, 10am, 12 and 2pm.
- Greyhound, Kirklands etc all the big bus Companies with large coaches do the route but they are slow, not that much cheaper and you have to get to the Transit Centre which is a taxi ride away. Better to go the minibuses.

To get to Lake Ainsworth by road from the south:
Follow the Pacific Highway through to Ballina
Follow the signs through Ballina to Lennox Head
Continue through the Lennox Head township on Pacific Parade past the Surf Club
The centre is on Pacific Parade on the northern end of Lake Ainsworth.
To get to Lake Ainsworth by road from the north:
Follow the Pacific Highway through to the Lennox Head turn off (Ross Lane, south
of Knockrow).
Turn right at the first “T” intersection
Turn left into the Lennox Head town ship
Turn left again at the “T” intersection at the ocean and follow Pacific Parade north past the surf club to the northern end of Lake Ainsworth.
local & other transport
To get around in the area, eg. From Byron Bay to Lennox Head, you can take a local Bus with Blanchs. Their Route 640 leaves the northern town of Mullumbimby, goes thru Byron and heads to Lennox Head. There are seven buses a day and it takes 30 minutes from Byron to Lennox. Sorry no door drop off you will have a 10 minute plus stroll to venue.
