Presented by NORPA, in collaboration with Australian CI enthusiasts, acic08 will be the fourth annual Australian Contact Improvisation Convergence. From all over Australia, New Zealand and beyond, participants converge and indulge in 5 days of Contact Improvisation (CI) jamming, classes, discussion, and more, in a relaxing and invigorating beachside location.
This year, acic08 is dedicated to providing not only classes and workshops lead by some of Australia’s most experienced CI practitioners, but also to facilitate the time and space for each participant to guide themselves through the event – be it with self-directed inquiry, shared investigations, or just plenty of dancing! Favourite activities will return, including the live music jam, the performance night and the Underscore. The convergence continues to support and enrich CI culture in Australia and beyond, for individuals and communities alike.
Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre is nestled metres Seven Mile Beach, beside the tea-tree freshwater lake. Dance on the sprung timber floor of the stadium hall, amongst the trees, on the beach, or in the water! Residential participants stay in comfortable dormitory accommodation with ensuite bathrooms, and continental breakfast is provided each morning beside the beach.
Lunch and dinner are delicious mostly-organic, vegetarian cuisine, cooked onsite by sought-after local chefs Anthea Amore and Casper Brace. Meal times take place beside the beach and under the stars; perfect fuel for 5 days of dancing and getting to know your dance partners!

Immediately before acic08 there will be acite08 - Australian Contact Improvisation Teachers Exchange. acite08 is premised on a sense of research, play and inquiry. It is intended to be a space for committed CI teachers to exchange their exploration of teaching, in an environment created by a shared experience and understanding of both teaching and CI.
Applications for acite08 are currently open!
