Our Range 458 of Projectiles

.458 300 grain JHPs

These projectiles are made with hard drawn copper jackets. They feature a cavernously large hollow point that extends far down into the soft lead core and have a 10 degree tapered ogive. These were especially designed  with lever guns in mind. They are radically designed for rapid and even expansion at low velocities and expand with extreme violence if pushed at higher velocities. The design criteria of these projectiles was to make a big heavy bullet that would rapidly impart massive energy to its target on impact. Therefore improving its suitability for use on thin skinned game. Even though these projectiles have a very large hollow point they feed extremely well
through lever actions and are very safe in tube magazines

Recovered .458 300 grain JHPs

This projectiles was recovered from a dirt bank 50 yards away after being fired from a 500/450  Nitro Express double. at an MV around 2000 fps You can plainly see that the jacket has stayed with the core even tho' there has been considerable expansion due to the very large hollow point cavity. This projectile only lost 60gr in weight that's a weight retention of 80%. Not bad for a bullet of this type of design. If it doesn't blow up on a dirt bank it definatly won't blow up on thin skinned game.
