Since early childhood I have loved drawing and painting, and illuminated manuscripts have been a passion since I painted my first illuminated prayers when I was fifteen. I married and had a family, studied the arts and humanities at university, discovered feminist politics, the environment, yoga and meditation and after 20 years took up painting and drawing again and became fascinated with
mandalas.

Eventually I decided to study art formally and at art school explored and revelled in abstract and colour-field work using acrylic and oil paints. During that time I was still painting mandalas and my fascination with them increased and continues to this day but watercolour is my preferred medium.

I am inspired by a deep love of nature, poetry and music as well as by traditional and folk mythologies and mystical philosophies. After studying eastern and western spiritual ideas and practices I find fulfilment in an eclectic spirituality, for the mystics of all religions speak the same language of love. My intention is to celebrate the sacredness and beauty of the natural world, particularly on the microcosmic scale. I use my art to express my appreciation for this astonishing planet Earth and mysterious universe.

I am fascinated by the fact that of all creatures, only human beings appear to have an appreciation of beauty, a gift which has been both a blessing and a curse for the human race. As a motif in itself, it is as important to my work as the more obvious symbolism.

I am a fervent animal lover and now live, with my dog Lucy, in a beautiful semi- tropical Australian coastal town called Byron Bay where I am surrounded by mountains, rainforests and wonderful beaches. Many creative people, healers and spiritual teachers are drawn here because of its natural beauty and powerful energies. My children and grandchildren live in other parts of Australia but love to visit this area with it's relaxed holiday mode and rich cultural community.
